Meet The Team
“It’s what you learn after you think you know it all that counts” – Jimmy A. Williams
Her career includes working with professionals such as Ken Nordstrom, Nick and Kost Karazissis, Fran and Joe Dotoli, Nona Garson, David Boley, Bernie Traurig, and Rodney Bross among others.
She shows horses in divisions ranging from the hunters to preliminary jumpers. Her clients compete in these divisions as well as the equitation at shows such as Garden State, Monmouth County, North Hampton, Eastern States, Saratoga, HITS, Wellington, Aiken SC and others all along the East Coast.
In addition to her private clients, she has coached the Columbia University Equestrian Team since 2005. Over the years her team members have qualified for IHSA Regionals, Zones, and Nationals.
She currently holds a “r” in hunters and hunt seat equitation.
Elizabeth started riding at the young age of 3, giving her 24 years of riding experience. A typical trainer’s kid; summer vacations consisted of horse shows, homework was done in the office of the barn, and she rode whatever was left for her- typically something naughty. She was blessed by a few of her mother Penny’s generous friends and clients who allowed Elizabeth to ride their own ponies, horses, and investment projects in order to gain some show miles in the hunters, jumpers, and equitation.
Elizabeth competed on the University of Wyoming IHSA team and made it to Nationals in 2009. She went on to coach the Hunt Seat team at Colby Community College for 1.5 years before returning home to assist her mother with Misfit Farm and the Columbia University Equestrian Team.
Marcos “Julio” Salas
Julio has been with our farm since 2009 and is our “main” man. He is the person all of our horses love and respect. Quiet and kind, but firm; horses under Julio’s care develop trust as well as impeccable manners.
